Please join us for our next round of our Storyteller Series at Fleet Feet Murfreesboro, with Monica Moore

We are very excited for Monica to join our group of inspiring runners who have been gracious enough to take time from their busy schedules in hopes of spreading the love of the run, and motivate within our community! We look forward to seeing you here!

Here is a little bit about Monica's running story....

I Moved to Murfreesboro five years ago from McMinnville, TN where I was born and raised. Growing up, I always played school sports and running was always seen as a form of punishment; therefore, I was turned against running. Moving to Murfreesboro in which I knew no one, I decided to join a Fleet Feet training program in May of 2016 in a way to meet sports minded people.  I have completed four of the Fleet Feet training programs and I am now very passionate about running.

My first race was 4 on the 4th in 2016. The same year, I ran my first half marathon at the Middle Half with a time of 1:52.12.  To date, I have competed 7 half marathons through Run cations.

In 2017, I ran four 5k races, one 10k, two 15Ks, and two full marathons. The marathons were the 7 Bridges in Chattanooga, TN with a finishing time of 4:13, followed by Panama City Beach with a time of 4:09.

The year 2018 has been themed outside my comfort zone. I am trying to run the year with 2018 miles in 2018.  As of July 5, I had completed 1200 miles. I have run two Ultra marathons in the Strolling Jim 41.2 miles and RUTS in Paducah, Ky.

This year, I began running trails. I ran my first trail race, a 10K, at Dry Creek Trail run. I completed my first trail marathon, The Dragonfly Jackal (5:36.44) in June followed by a half marathon the following day. This was my first experience in running back to back races. I have scheduled one race each month, for the remainder of the year.

One race that I feel honored to run will be the Marine Corps marathon in October. Additionally, I have planned my longest run thus far, with the Tunnel Hill 50 miler in November. My running goals are to qualify for the Boston Marathon, run back to back marathons, and to run a 100 mile race (no rush on the last one).

I am blessed to be a member of the Mad Cow Running Company, where I have experienced many great running moments; but beyond that, formed some great friendships.
